Many hard problems have been solved… at least on paper.

Strike Labs was formed in 2018 by John Casano—serial entrepreneur who just wanted to “do good”, and work with the same team with whom Casano has been working with for 10 years while building and selling financial technology companies.

In the past, the Strike Labs team have realized many hard problems have been solved… at least on paper. Professional researchers who spent a decade earning their PhD from universities like MIT and Stanford have done much of the insightful work. A professor from the University of Oxford summarized it best when he said

“We wanted to prove it could be done. We then expect corporations to implement the idea.”

This research provides treasure troves of information, and tools like Google Scholar and IEEE are the treasure maps. We find the insights, innovative ideas, and new technology from academic research that has not progressed since being published. We talk to the authors, understand the work, recreate it, and then build a commercially reliable solution that solves the problem at hand. The Valley of Death—not to be confused with The Chasm—is riddled with the remains of failed ideas. But their fossils prove to be extremely valuable.

The Strike Labs personnel--having years of diverse experience with both large and small businesses as well as government agencies--believe:

  1. tutorials, in-person training, and manuals are stopgaps for poorly designed solutions

  2. process, innovation, and change come from obsession, and one must push the envelope of technological platforms and design to disrupt the status quo, and

  3. the solutions to most problems have either been previously solved either in a different arena, or is written in a scientist’s obscure white paper read only by a handful of their peers.

Consequently, working with scientists, utilizing academic research, and thinking outside the box to develop beautiful yet forward-leaning technology and high-tech platforms, is a foundational pillar ingrained in every member of the team. We enjoy solving a specific problem with 0’s and 1’s brought to us by small mission-specific groups. Our clients become our friends, and we over-deliver by providing better solutions that were requested more than we like to admit.

We are also very interested in licensing technologies from national laboratories.
